Lavished Children

Friday, August 22, 2014

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God."
1 John 3:1

Every time I come across this verse, I am attracted to the word "lavished." As I have studied the word, it implies being soaked by something.  Can you picture that? Being soaked by God's great love. Not a normal love, but a great love.  A love that is everlasting, a love that is unconditional, a love that is personal to you and personal to me.

I imagine that it is like standing in the shower being soaked by water. There is not a dry spot on me. It keeps on soaking and soaking.

Let me encourage you to meditate on God's great love for you every morning this week as you stand in the shower. I can't think of a better way to start the day than to remind myself of how much God loves me.

Remember these words?

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so.

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and Yellow Black and White
All are precious in His sight.

Jesus loves all the children of the world.

Blessings today.
